Set up SFDC libraries for Crescendo

If your team uses Salesforce CRM Content (known as Libraries) to store and share content, you can create branded mobile experience without engineering or development.

Crescendo allows you to define virtual folders and subfolders to better organize your presentation materials.

Virtual Folders and Crescendo Cases

Salesforce libraries do not offer ability to create subfolders within the libraries. Therefore to define a structured, hierarchical presentation view based on your flat libraries, Crescendo uses a virtual folders concept.

Example:

You need two libraries with content available in Crescendo for the Sales Team: Presentations and Product Lines.

Also, there are two other libraries that you need available for the HR Onboarding team: Training Materials and Forms.

In Crescendo those libraries can be organised in two separate buckets called Crescendo Cases: Sales and Marketing Case and HR Onboarding Case.

In addition, there is another library called Company Info which should be available in both Sales and Marketing and HR Onboarding Crescendo Cases.

Steps:

Use Library Description fields to define virtual path in Crescendo.

Syntax: [Crescendo (Crescendo Case name)]

Library Description
Presentations [Crescendo (Sales and Marketing)]
Product Lines [Crescendo (Sales and Marketing)]
Training Materials           [Crescendo (HR Onboarding)]
Forms [Crescendo (HR Onboarding)]
Company Info [Crescendo(HR Onboarding)] [Crescendo(Sales and Marketing)]

Notice that Company Info library has both pieces of description as it belongs to both HR Onboarding and Sales and Marketing buckets (Cases).

Define virtual subfolders

In many cases libraries should be displayed below other libraries, just like a subfolder is displayed below its parent folder. Crescendo allows for that.

Example:

Training Materials case should have subfolders: Videos and eLearning.

eLearning case should than have one subfolder: Tests

Steps:

  • To implements this hierarchy in Crescendo, create 3 libraries in SFDC:Videos, eLearning and Tests. Upload relevant content into those libraries.
  • Set descriptions for your newly created libraries. Crescendo supports multiple levels of virtual folders.

Syntax:

[Crescendo (Crescendo Case name)|Next level]

[Crescendo (Crescendo Case name)|Next level|Futher level]

[Crescendo (Crescendo Case name)|Next level|Futher level|Final level]

Library Description
Videos [Crescendo(HR Onboarding)|Training Materials]
eLearning          [Crescendo(HR Onboarding)|Training Materials]
Tests [Crescendo(HR Onboarding)|Training Materials|eLearning]

You are ready!

Your Salesforce libraries are now set up. Launch Crescendo, login with SFDC credentials and the new Crescendo Cases will show up.

When you start Crescendo for the first time, it will sync your Case(s) to the device. It may take up to several minutes to complete the data download, depending on your network performance. Once synced, Crescendo will thereafter only sync new and updated files.

Next step: Create your own Crescendo Theme!

You can modify the look and feel of your Crescendo: the background, colors
of various assets, files and folders icons and much more.
